Daily Announcements for Oct. 16th 2012

Good luck to the 7th grade football team! Tonight they face Graham middle school at Graham.  Go get ‘em boys!

If you did not play a fall sport, your parent must attend the winter sports meeting at 7:00 pm in the high school auditorium. 

Attention wrestlers:  we will be having our team meeting in the cafeteria after the mandatory Winter Sports meeting on 10/23/12. 

Attention 7th Grade Science Students, if you have borrowed one of Mrs. Forson's books please return it tomorrow so other students can sign them out. 

Attention any girls interested in playing basketball:
There will be a Sign-Up sheet outside of Mr. Moss’ room until Wednesday, October 17.  If you didn't play volleyball you will need a physical by Friday, October 26th. There will be girls basketball open Gym on Tuesday, October 16th from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Urbana High School, Wednesday, October 17th from 6:00-8:00p.m.at Urbana Junior High and Sunday, October 21st from 6:30-8:00 at Urbana Junior High School.  There will be a Parent Meeting: Tuesday 23, 2012 7:00p.m. in the Urbana High School Auditorium

The second Washington payment will be due on October 26th.

Next week is Fall OGT week in the high school.  High school students will be testing in the cafeteria. That means we will not be going thru the cafeteria to get to band and choir.  Jr high students will need to use the doors by Mr. LaValley and Mr. McAndrew’s classrooms.  Please remember to be quiet and respectful.  High school students will be having class at that time.

Daily Announcements for April 11th, 2011

There will be no open court tennis for girls today. The courts are too wet and weather conditions do not look good. We will meet Wednesday, April 13, at the courts at 3:15

Any 8th grade student interested in participating in Summer PE needs to stop by the office and pick up an application from Mrs. Karnehm. Completed registration and payment is due to Mrs. Karnehm no later than May 6th!!! Or until all spots for the class are filled. (4/11 – 5/5)

Just a reminder to all band students that sub sale subs need to be picked up in the cafeteria on today from 6:30 - 7:00.

Any 7th & 8th grade girl interested in playing basketball next year needs to see Miss Parker for open gym schedule and summer camp information.

The Urbana Junior High School Girls Track Team brought home the Second Place trophy from the Bellefontaine Relays. Winning for Urbana was the Shuttle Relay team of Val Batova, Morgan Hamilton, Alexis Shambaugh and Payton Moore(1:18.16) and the Pole vault team of Brookelynn Russell and Alyssa Beavers(11' 6"). In second was the sprint medley team of Val Batova, Morgan Hamilton, Mckenzie Ellis, Payton Moore and the Discus team of Destiny Andrews and Landre Neer. In third place was the Long Jump Team of Katy Curnutte and Tori Quesenberry and the Shot Put team of Teya Buckney and Destiny Andrews. In fourth was the 400M Relay team of Batova, Ellis, Hamilton and Quesenberry and the 800M team of Curnutte, Moore, Annie Tullis and Katie Weinert.

The UJHS Boys Team placed fifth. The Shuttle Hurdle Relay Team of Kristoffer Hamilton, Tim Sidders, Jaylon Cameron and Jaymen Neff-Strickland placed first. In third place was the Mixed Relay Team of Neff-Strickland, Nathan Mays, Cody Grim and Charles Sidders, the 3200 Relay team of Cameron, Blake Hildreth, Mackay Lemieux and Charles Sidders. Also in third was the 1600M Relay team of Ethan Edwards, Mays, Hildreth and Hamilton, The Shot Put Team of Aaron Lawson and Jack Harris and Pole Vaulters Edwards and Grim. Fourth Place finishers included the Sprint Medley Team of Harris, Cameron, Sam Niswonger and Hamilton and the Long Jumpers Niswonger and Sidders.


The community adult-student theater will be presenting 100 years of broadway and is in need of student singers, dancers and musicians. Registration will be held Saturday, April 16th 9 to noon at 900 Scioto st Urbana and 8025 E Rt 36 Conover or you can call 653-5092 or 622-1010.

Track practice is inside today.

The cardholder list has been posted. If you feel there is an error, you must report it to the office before tomorrow at 2:00 pm

Daily Announcements for Wednesday OCT 13th 2010

This week's Hillclimber Award winners were Burr Simpson and Sara Lingrell.

8th. grade football team lost to Bellefontaine 32-8. For UJHS, Jaymen Neff-Strickland had one touchdown. Corey Fenton caught a two-point conversion pass from Ethan Edwards.


The student council will be sponsoring a splatter dance on October 22nd from 4:30 to 7:00 pm. Presale tickets are 5.00. Tickets at the door will be 6.00. Tickets will be on sale during lunch October 18th thru the 22nd.


There will be a mandatory parent meeting on October 26th @ 7:00 pm in the high school auditorium for those wishing to participate in a winter sport. Individual team meetings will follow at 7:30. If your parent attended the parent meeting in the fall, they do not need to attend the winter parent meeting, however parent and athlete must attend individual team meeting. All athletes should be in attendance. All athletes must have a physical, emergency medical authorization, Health Insurance waiver and athletic code of conduct before participating.

NO athlete can practice or play in a regular season contest until all forms are turned in and parent has attended meeting.

Girl’s basketball open gym on Sundays from 6:30-8

Girl’s basketball tryouts will be held Monday November 1-Wednesday November 3rd.


There will be a Junior High Softball Club Parent/Student Meeting
On Tuesday, October 19th at 8:00 pm in High School cafeteria. Any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade girls interested in playing softball should attend. Your PARENTS MUST ATTEND. Tryout information will be given out at the meeting.

Attention any 8th grade boy that is interested in playing 8th grade baseball as a club sport. We will have a meeting on Thursday Oct. 21 at 2:45 in Mr. Bowdles classroom. The meeting wills last 20-30 minutes. If you are unable to attend please contact Coach Bowdle before this date.

On Tuesday night the 7th grade football team beat rival Bellefontaine Middle School 46-6 on the varsity football field. Tyree Andrews scored 4 touchdowns, Taylor Thomas and Jack Harris each scored one, and Sam Niswonger scored 5 two point conversions.
Sacking the Bellefontaine quarterback: Jacob Angles (2), Tyree Andrews, Skyler Reisinger, Jack Harris each had one. Tackles for a loss: Jacob Angles, Cameron Riegel had two each and Skyeler Poe had one interceptions: Skyeler Poe, Shane Holloway, Nick Shank each intercepted the Bellefontaine quarterback and Taylor Thomas had one interception that he returned for a score. Cameron Riegel and Jack Harris each had one reception and Jack Harris turned his into a score. Tim Sidders, Cameron Riegel, Zach Vernon, Jailin Cameron and Jacob Angle all had tackles. Most importantly the team had great down field blocking. The team and coaches are thankful that the high school coaches and athletic director Mr. Raterman allowed us the opportunity to play in the stadium. Next Wednesday the junior high football team will play their final game of the season as they play CBC rival Graham Middle School at Graham.

ATTENTION 2010-2011 HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADERS:  UNIFORM FITTINGS ARE THIS WEDNESDAY IN MRS. FORSON'S ROOM, N200 IN THE JUNIOR HIGH. THEY WILL BEGIN PROMPTLY AT 2:30 FOR SPRING SPORT ATHLETES.  A $100 DEPOSIT IS DUE AT FITTINGS.

Boys Basketball open gym will be tonight from 5 to 7 in the high school gym.

Attention 8th grade acme baseball players.  You practice for tonight has changed.  You now have a game that starts at 5:00 PM at the city park.  Please be at the field by 4:30.  If you have any questions please contact one of your coaches.

Lost and found is overflowing, please check in the library if you have lost something. There are clothes, text books, folders, notebooks and lunchboxes.

On Saturday night the Cincinnati Bengals vs. the Champaign County All Star Team basketball game was held in the high school gym. The game was a near sellout and all of the money raised help support the Urbana Acme Baseball program. The game itself was close until mid way thru the 4th quarter. The Bengal players displayed their amazing athletic ability and beat the Champaign County All-Stars 100-82.

On March 1 st there will be an 8th grade parent and student High School information meeting at 6:00 pm in the Junior High Gym.

jh winter sports Awards will be held Wednesday March 3rd @ 7:00 in the jh Gym. Athlets must be presented to earn their award.

The 7th and 8th grade girls will play in the CBC Finals on Wendnesday at Greenon High School.

There will be a student council teen night on March 5th from 6:00 to 8:30. the theme will be super heroes! You must have all you feees paid to attend. if you have any questions please come to the office.

Monday and Tuesday's HIP winners are: Hannah Zerkle, Kaylee Oty, Payton Moore, Caitlan Collett, Taylor Lewis, Savannah Burcham, Emilie Holland and jordan fryar. come to the office to get you prise.

Benefit Basketball Game


On Saturday March 20, 2010, a benefit basketball game will be played at the Urbana High School gymnasium. The game will be the Cincinnati Bengals vs. the Champaign County All Star Team. Pre-sale tickets are $8 and can be purchased from any high school baseball player or coach. Local school employees that will be participating in this event are; PLAYERS, Jeremy Dixon (varsity basketball coach), TD Evans (JV basketball coach), Travis Cross (JV baseball coach), Chuck Raterman (Athletic Director UHS), REFEREE, Todd Charles (Head golf coach), Mike Mays (Head track coach, asst. football coach), Charles Thiel (superintendent of Urbana City Schools).
