3-16-12 announcements

Jr High cheerleading tryouts will be March 26th, 27th, and 29th from 4 to 6 in the wrestling room.  Information packets are available in the office.

On Saturday March 17th the Champaign county All-Stars will play basketball against alumni Football players from The Ohio State University.  The game starts at 7:00 PM in the Urbana High School gym.  Tickets are $8 presale and $10 at the door.  See Mr Bowdle if you’re interested in tickets 

NJHS is still collecting for Pennies for Patients. It’s 7th grade against 8th grade to see who can raise the most money to help stomp out childhood cancer.

Track practice is at the track.  If you don’t have your uniform, stop at the cage before you report to the track.  This is the last day to join the track team

For the month of March, the Student council is sponsoring a can and bottle recycling contest.  The grade that collects the most cans and bottles will get to choose the theme of the next dance.

Sign up sheets for Urbana Youth Softball and Baseball are available in the office. The last sign up day is this Saturday from 10 to noon at the Urbana Youth Sports building.

There is a pair of purplish glasses in the office.  If you think they might be yours, please stop by and pick them up.

Daily Announcements for Wednesday OCT 13th 2010

October Students of the Month are:
Trenton Dunham - 7th grade Francis Smith - 8th grade

This week's Hillclimber Award winners were Burr Simpson and Sara Lingrell.

8th. grade football team lost to Bellefontaine 32-8. For UJHS, Jaymen Neff-Strickland had one touchdown. Corey Fenton caught a two-point conversion pass from Ethan Edwards.


The student council will be sponsoring a splatter dance on October 22nd from 4:30 to 7:00 pm. Presale tickets are 5.00. Tickets at the door will be 6.00. Tickets will be on sale during lunch October 18th thru the 22nd.


There will be a mandatory parent meeting on October 26th @ 7:00 pm in the high school auditorium for those wishing to participate in a winter sport. Individual team meetings will follow at 7:30. If your parent attended the parent meeting in the fall, they do not need to attend the winter parent meeting, however parent and athlete must attend individual team meeting. All athletes should be in attendance. All athletes must have a physical, emergency medical authorization, Health Insurance waiver and athletic code of conduct before participating.

NO athlete can practice or play in a regular season contest until all forms are turned in and parent has attended meeting.

Girl’s basketball open gym on Sundays from 6:30-8

Girl’s basketball tryouts will be held Monday November 1-Wednesday November 3rd.


There will be a Junior High Softball Club Parent/Student Meeting
On Tuesday, October 19th at 8:00 pm in High School cafeteria. Any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade girls interested in playing softball should attend. Your PARENTS MUST ATTEND. Tryout information will be given out at the meeting.

Attention any 8th grade boy that is interested in playing 8th grade baseball as a club sport. We will have a meeting on Thursday Oct. 21 at 2:45 in Mr. Bowdles classroom. The meeting wills last 20-30 minutes. If you are unable to attend please contact Coach Bowdle before this date.

On Tuesday night the 7th grade football team beat rival Bellefontaine Middle School 46-6 on the varsity football field. Tyree Andrews scored 4 touchdowns, Taylor Thomas and Jack Harris each scored one, and Sam Niswonger scored 5 two point conversions.
Sacking the Bellefontaine quarterback: Jacob Angles (2), Tyree Andrews, Skyler Reisinger, Jack Harris each had one. Tackles for a loss: Jacob Angles, Cameron Riegel had two each and Skyeler Poe had one interceptions: Skyeler Poe, Shane Holloway, Nick Shank each intercepted the Bellefontaine quarterback and Taylor Thomas had one interception that he returned for a score. Cameron Riegel and Jack Harris each had one reception and Jack Harris turned his into a score. Tim Sidders, Cameron Riegel, Zach Vernon, Jailin Cameron and Jacob Angle all had tackles. Most importantly the team had great down field blocking. The team and coaches are thankful that the high school coaches and athletic director Mr. Raterman allowed us the opportunity to play in the stadium. Next Wednesday the junior high football team will play their final game of the season as they play CBC rival Graham Middle School at Graham.
