Daily Announcements for April 18th 2012
All Student Council members are to report to park by noon on Saturday. Make sure you come ready to work and bring materials you were assigned to bring.
The Urbana Junior High School boys and girls track teams each finished second in the county meet behind West Liberty Salem. Finishing first for Urbana was Morgan Hamilton in the 100M Hurdles and 200M Hurdles, Hunter Rogan in the 400M, 400M Relay team of Val Batova, Rogan, Katy Curnutte, Hamilton,800M Relay team of Batova, Emma Burnside, Molly Hamilton, Kaelyn Bertsch, Jack Harris in the Discus, Justin Myers in the 400M and 800M.
Also scoring for Urbana were Sara Lingrell, Elaine Powell, Madisyn Horn, Keith Gale, Andrew Hecker, Langston Kitchen, Jaylin Cameron, Tim Sidders, Mitchell Moyer, Nick Gavin, Swayde Finch, Jared Weller, Drew Carafa, Cooper Johnson
Students – please remember if you are going to take Summer PE you must pick up an application in the office. Putting it on your schedule does not mean you are taking it. You must fill out an application & turn it in by May 6th.
The Student Council is sponsoring a Recycling Fair on Saturday, April 21st, from 1 to 3 at Melvin Miller Park. There will be games, free food, and a collection drop off area for cans only. Please have these in bags and "donate" to one of the six Urbana schools to help them win the competition.

8th grade art students may pick up their paper mache pots after school
Any student council members interested in participating in Sparky painting on this Wednesday from 4:15 to 6, please let Mrs. Lingrell know at Student Council meeting this week. Your parents will need to have you at the Junior High parking lot at 4:15 and please dress appropriately- old clothes are best!
Don’t forget it’s Spirit week. Tomorrow is hat and sunglasses day, Thursday is lazy day(no pajamas), Friday is glow. Please encourage your homeroom to participate. There will be a prize for highest percentage of participants.
The first teen night will be October 14th from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm. The theme is glow! Tickets are on Sale at lunch. Tickets are 4.00 presale and 5.00 at the door. Don’t miss out on the fun! Remember, in order to attend the dance you must have paid your school fees or arranged a payment plan. Please see Mrs Karnehm if you have any questions.

On Friday, September 30th all 8th graders will be going to Bunsold Middle School in Marysville for a Science and Math Show. If you do not have your field trip form turned in, you will not be permitted to attend.

Urbana Athletic Department will be offering physicals for any Urbana Athlete currently in grades 6 through 11th grade. The physicals will take place in the UHS Gym on May 24th from 6 - 9 PM. Cost is $10. Physical forms can be picked up in the Athletic Office or downloaded from the Urbana Athletic Website under the link Athletic Eligibility Forms.
HIP winners are Tristan Atchison, Zane Bandy, Victoria Broshes, Teya Buckney, Trevor Adams, Randi Ball, Elizabeth Wild and Wes Brown: Please come to the office for prize.

Winning for Urbana was Austin Curtis in the Long Jump(16' 5.5") and the 400m Relay Team of Jaymen Neff-Strickland, Jean Paul Soto, Sam Niswonger, Cody Grim (49.3 New Meet Record). Also placing were Nathan Mays, 4th in High Jump and 3rd in the 400M Dash, Caleb Honore, 6th in High Jump, Sam Niswonger, 6th in Long Jump, Ethan Edwards, 4th in Pole Vault, Jaymen Neff-Strickland, 2nd in 110M Hurdles and 200M Hurdles, Kristoffer Hamilton, 3rd in 110 Hurdles, Jean Paul Soto, 2nd in the 100M Dash and 5th in the 200M Dash, Cody Grim, 3rd in the 100M Dash and 2nd in the 200M Dash, Austin Curtis, 2nd in the 400M Dash. the 800M Relay team of Honore, Niswonger, Chris Ethridge, Jack Harris took 5th, the 1600M Relay team of Nathan Mays, Ethan Edwards, Austin Curtis andKristoffer Hamilton placed 3rd.

High School cheerleading tryouts are March 21-24 in the Junior High Gym. You need to sign up and take a packet from the Junior high office. Please see Mrs Forson if you have questions. (Read through March 21st)

Daily Announcements March 16th 2011
Congratulations to our 7th and 8th grade Ohio Model United Nations teams, who have just returned from meeting with one thousand students from all over Ohio. Seventh grade team members were: Kendra Arnett, Emma Burnside, Robert Daniels, Trenton Dunham, Makay Lemieux, Sara Lingrell, Alexis Parker, and Halie Riefstahl. Eighth grade team members were: Rachel Ebert, Michelle Boysel, Hannah Preston, Frances Smith, Kathlein Lebo, Samantha Kenney, David Martin, and Amanda Pettit. Special congratulations to the following award winners: Robert Daniels – 7th grade outstanding leader; the eighth grade team, for making it to the finals with their talent showcase; David Martin – 1st place in World Problem-solving contest; Frances Smith – won an election to preside at next year’s OMUN as a council president. Congratulations to both teams and thanks for a great job of representing Urbana Junior High at this event!

Eighth grade team members were: Rachel Ebert, Michelle Boysel, Hannah Preston, Frances Smith, Kathlein Lebo, Samantha Kenney, David Martin, and Amanda Pettit. Special congratulations to the following award winners: Robert Daniels – 7th grade outstanding leader; the eighth grade team, for making it to the finals with their talent showcase; David Martin – 1st place in World Problem-solving contest; Frances Smith – won an election to preside at next year’s OMUN as a council president. Congratulations to both teams and thanks for a great job of representing Urbana Junior High at this event!
High School cheerleading tryouts are March 21-24 in the Junior High Gym. You need to sign up and take a packet from the Junior high office. Please see Mrs Forson if you have questions. (Read through March 21st)

Daily Announcements for March 4th, 2011
Attention 8th grade baseball players. We will have a parent/player meeting for this years spring team on Sunday March 6 at 1:00 PM in the cafeteria. If your parents can not attend or you have questions please contact Coach Bowdle ASAP.
The HS Boys Tournament game vs Eaton on Saturday will begin at 7:30, not 8:00 as announced last night at the game. Tickets are on sale in the High School Athletic Office for 6.00. Tickets at the gate are $7.00. If you purchase your tickets through the Athletic Office 50% of the revenue will stay at Urbana. Go climbers!
The Junior OMUN meeting scheduled for this Saturday has been changed to a new time. We will be meeting from 12:30 to 2, with those playing soccer leaving at 1:30.
Track practice starts on Monday, March 7th. Please turn your track paperwork in to Mrs. Poppel this week.

Spring Soccer registration will be this Saturday from 10 to 2 at the Youth Sports building by the soccer fields at Melvin Miller Park. This is for 10 to 18 year olds to improve soccer skills by working with Urbana University soccer coaching staff and players. Cost is $75 for 6 weeks.

ATTN: Cheerleaders – The bus to the state competition leaves at 7:15 am sharp. Be at the school at 7:00 am.
Track practice starts on March 7th. The required spring sports meeting is on February 24 at 6:30 pm in the high school auditorium. Right now we are out of Track packets. We will be getting more made soon.
Spirit Week will be February 28th thru March 4th. Monday will be Nerd Day – Express your inner geek, Tuesday – Jersey/Climber Day – wear your favorite jersey or school colors, Wednesday – Pajama Day/ Lazy Day – Be comfortable, Thursday – Superhero/Celebrity – dress as your favorite superhero or celebrity, Friday – Decades day – 70’s, 80’s, 90’s – what was your favorite style?
