Help us Cloth some Needy Students

Hello!

The Guidance department at UHS is starting a "Climber Closet" to help students and families that may not have warm clothes, clothes that fit, etc.  If you happen to have any extra clothes, coats, shoes, etc laying around, let us help with your pre-Spring cleaning!  We are also taking clothes that may be smaller than what our high school students would wear and passing them down to the other buildings.

Also, looking forward to prom, I would like to start preparing for this as well.  Prom can be a huge financial burden and I don't want any students thinking they cannot attend due to finances.  We will be collecting gowns, suits, shoes, and accessories for this too.

We will be announcing this soon to the students and families via newsletters and announcements, but for now we are building our "inventory".  If you know of anyone that could benefit from this, send them to us or contact us.  Of course, we will be as sensitive with this as possible so as not to embarrass anyone.

Please feel free to see us with any questions, referrals, or to drop off supplies!  If you are unable to make it to our building, we can pick up things at your convenience.

Thanks to everyone for all the kindness you show our students!

Recycling Event at Urbana High School

Did you know that plastic bag that diapers/baby wipes come in is recyclable? The cap from your Laundry Detergent, Dish detergent and spray bottle are also recyclable. Our local recycler does not take it. If these items are in your bin, they end up going to the landfill. However, Urbana H.S. Family & Consumer Science will collect those and send them into TerraCycle who can turn them into other products. If you would put these items in an envelope, bag or box and send them through the district mail and send them to me, we would gladly take care of them. See the attachment for a picture of the collectible items. Thanks! Susan H. Fleece, M.Ed.
