The UJHS Track Results as reported by Coach Poppel.

The Urbana Boys Track Team won the County Championship with 103 points. Placing for Urbana were: Jack Harris, 4th in Shot Put and 5th in Discus, Nathan Mays, 2nd in High Jump and 3rd in the 400, Caleb Honore, 5th in HIgh jump, Austin Curtis, 2nd in Long Jump, the 400M Dash and the 800M Run, Sam NIswonger, 3rd in High Jump, Cody Grim, 4th in Pole Vault, 2nd in the 200M Dash, Ethan Edwards, 5th in Pole Vault, Jaymen Neff-Strickland, 2nd in the 110 Hurdles and 1st in the 200 Hurdles, kristoffer Hamilton, 4th in the 110 Hurdles and 3rd in the 200 Hurdles, Jean Paul Soto, 1st in the 100M Dash, Blake Hildreth, 3rd in the 1600M Run, Makay Limieux, 5th in the 1600. Charles Sidders, 5th in the 400 and 3rd in the 800. The 400M Relay of Jean Paul Soto, Jaymen Neff-Strickland, Sam Niswonger and Cody Grim placed first. The 800M Relay Team of Sam Niswonger, Caleb Honore, Chris Ethridge and Jack Harris placed 2nd. The 1600M Relay Team of Nathan Mays, Charles Sidders, Ethan Edwards and Kristoffer Hamilton were also 2nd.

The Girls are also the county champions. Placing were: Landre Neer, 3rd in the Discus, Destiny Andrews was 5th in the Discus, Aubrey Norris, 5th in the High Jump, Tori Quesenberry, 1st in the Long Jump, Annie Tullis, 3rd in the Long Jump, Katie Curnutte, 4th in the Long Jump, Katie Weinert, 2nd in the Pole Vault, Brookelynn Russell, 4th in Pole Vault, Teya Buckney, 5th in Shot Put, Payton Moore, 1st in the 100 and 200 Hurdles, 4th in the 200M Dash, Morgan Hamilton , 2nd in the 100 and 200 Hurdles, Val Batova, 4th in the 100M Dash and 3rd in the 200M Dash. Ohio Achievement Assessment Information 2011

Urbana Junior High School will begin the Ohio Achievement Assessments (OAAs) during the week of May 2nd. All 7th and 8th grade students will be taking the OAAs.

The testing schedule is as follows:

7th Grade
Tuesday, May 3, 2011 – OAA Reading
Thursday, May 5, 2011 – OAA Math

8th Grade
Tuesday, May 3, 2011 – OAA Reading
Wednesday, May 4, 2011 – OAA Math

Parents may support our efforts by being positive about testing, encouraging students to get a good night sleep, encouraging students to practice for the test, and making sure students eat a nutritious breakfast each morning. Testing will take place each day during the morning hours (approximately 7:45-10:15 am). Please see that students are in attendance, on time, and if necessary, schedule appointments during the afternoon. Students will receive a pre-testing snack, complements of our food service department.

Testing Incentives – In Order to Qualify for the Incentive, Students MUST:
1. Spend at least 1.5 hours completing each test including reviewing and rechecking answers.
2. Have NO unexcused absences during testing week.
3. Answer all multiple choice questions.
4. Follow directions for short answer and extended response questions. Provide the type of answer requested and answer all parts of the question using charts, tables, graphs, or written sentences as appropriate. Generally, short answer written responses (2 point questions) should have a 3 sentence response or equivalent and extended responses (4 point questions) should have a 6 sentence response or equivalent

The Urbana Junior High School Girls Track Team placed third in a five team meet on Tuesday. Payton Moore won the 100M Hurdles(18.04) and placed second in the 200M Dash.Tori Quesenberry was second in the Long Jump. Landre Neer was third in the Discus and Destiny Andrews was third in the Shot Put. The Boys team placed fourth. Nathan Mays won the 400M Dash(1:03.31). jaymen neff-Strickland was the winner in the 110M Hurdles(17.22) and the 200M Hurdles(28.22). Cody Grim placed second in the 200M Dash and Chris Ethridge was 5th. Blake Hildreth took 5th in the 800. Kristoffer Hamilton placed second in the 110M Hurdles and third in the 200M Hurdles. The 400M Relay team of Jack Harris, Jaymen Neff-Strickland, Sam Niswonger and Cody Grim placed third. The 800M Relay team of Aaron Lawson, Langston Kitchen, Chris Ethridge and Jack Harris placed third. The Urbana Junior High School Girls Track Team placed third in the 11 team Harold Green Memorial Invitational at Milton Union with 106.5 points. Winning for Urbana were Payton Moore in the 100M hurdles(17.68) and Landre Neer in the Discus(66' 7"). Placing second for the Climbers were Destiny Andrews in the Discus, katie Weinert in the Pole Vault, Morgan Hamilton in the 200M Hurdles and the 400M Relay team of Val Batova, Mckenzie Ellis, Morgan Hamilton and Tori Quesenberry. In third place was the 800M Relay team of Katy Curnutte, Mckenzie Ellis, Mady Lanning, Tori Quesenberry as well as Morgan Hamilton in the 100M Hurdles, Payton Moore in the 200M Hurdles,Teya Buckney in the Shot Put and Tori Quesenberry in the Long Jump.

The Boys also placed third with 106.5 points. The UJHS Boys track team won the 14 team Miami East Middle School Track Invitational with 97 points. Placing first for Urbana were Cody Grim in the 200M Dash(25.65), Austin Curtis in the 400M Dash(58.67), the 400M Relay Team of Jean Paul Soto, Jaymen Neff-Strickland, Sam Niswonger,Cody Grim(49.43), Austin Curtis in the Long Jump(17' 0"). Also placing were Jean Paul Soto who was 8th in the 100 and 6th in the 200, Nathan Mays was second in the High Jump and 6th in the 400 and Charles Sidders was 7th in the 800. Jaymen Neff-Strickland was second in the 110M Hurdles and the 200M Hurdles(27.82 New School Record), Kristoffer Hamilton was 6th in the 100M Hurdles and 7th in the 200M Hurdles. The 800 Meter Relay team of Caleb Honore, Sam Niswonger, Chris Ethridge and Jack Harris placed 6th. The 1600M Relay team of Nathan Mays, Ethan Edwards, Charles Sidders and Kristoffer Hamilton placed 3rd.Jack Harris placed 5th in the Discus and 4th in the Shot Put.

The Urbana Junior High School Girls Track Team brought home the Second Place trophy from the Bellefontaine Relays. Winning for Urbana was the Shuttle Relay team of Val Batova, Morgan Hamilton, Alexis Shambaugh and Payton Moore(1:18.16) and the Pole vault team of Brookelynn Russell and Alyssa Beavers(11' 6"). In second was the sprint medley team of Val Batova, Morgan Hamilton, Mckenzie Ellis, Payton Moore and the Discus team of Destiny Andrews and Landre Neer. In third place was the Long Jump Team of Katy Curnutte and Tori Quesenberry and the Shot Put team of Teya Buckney and Destiny Andrews. In fourth was the 400M Relay team of Batova, Ellis, Hamilton and Quesenberry and the 800M team of Curnutte, Moore, Annie Tullis and Katie Weinert.

The UJHS Boys Team placed fifth. The Shuttle Hurdle Relay Team of Kristoffer Hamilton, Tim Sidders, Jaylon Cameron and Jaymen Neff-Strickland placed first. In third place was the Mixed Relay Team of Neff-Strickland, Nathan Mays, Cody Grim and Charles Sidders, the 3200 Relay team of Cameron, Blake Hildreth, Mackay Lemieux and Charles Sidders. Also in third was the 1600M Relay team of Ethan Edwards, Mays, Hildreth and Hamilton, The Shot Put Team of Aaron Lawson and Jack Harris and Pole Vaulters Edwards and Grim. Fourth Place finishers included the Sprint Medley Team of Harris, Cameron, Sam Niswonger and Hamilton and the Long Jumpers Niswonger and Sidders.


The community adult-student theater will be presenting 100 years of broadway and is in need of student singers, dancers and musicians. Registration will be held Saturday, April 16th 9 to noon at 900 Scioto st Urbana and 8025 E Rt 36 Conover or you can call 653-5092 or 622-1010.

The Urbana Junior High School Girls Track Team brought home the Second Place trophy from the Bellefontaine Relays. Winning for Urbana was the ShuttleRrelay team of Val Batova, Morgan Hamilton, Alexis Shambaugh and Payton Moore(1:18.16) and the Pole vault team of Brookelynn Russell and Alyssa Beavers(11' 6"). In second was the sprint medley team of Val Batova, Morgan Hamilton, Mckenzie Ellis, Payton Moore and the Discus team of Destiny Andrews and Landre Neer. In third place was the Long Jump Team of Katy Curnutte and Tori Quesenberry and the Shot Put team of Teya Buckney and Destiny Andrews. In fourth was the 400M Relay team of batova, Ellis, Hamilton and Quesenberry and the 800M team of Curnutte, Moore, Annie Tullis and Katie Weinert.

UJHS TRACK RESULTS

The Urbana Junior High School Boys Track team placed first in a quad meet at Milton Union. Placing first for Urbana were: Jay Scott in the Discus with a throw of 74' 6", Nathan Mays in the High jump with a jump of 4' 10", Austin Curtis in the Long Jump(16 '7"), 400M(1:01) and 800M(2:34), Cody Grim in the 200M(25.7), Jaymen Neff-Strickland in the 110 hurdles(17.1) and 200M Hurdles(28.0) and the 400M Relay team of Jean Paul Soto, Jaymen Neff-Strickland, Cody Grim and Tyree Andrews(50.5). Also placing were Aaron Lawson, fourth in the discus and 2nd in Shot Put, Austyn Fain took 5th in Discus, Jay Scott, third in shot Put, Caleb Honore' was 4th in High Jump and 5th in the 400M, Charles Sidders placed 4th in Long Jump, ,2nd in the 800m and 5th in the 1600M, Ethan Edwards was 2nd in Pole vault, Jean Paul Soto took 2nd in the 100M and Tyree Andrews was third. Tyree Andrews was also 2nd in the 200M. Nathan Mays was 2nd in the 400M, Blake HIldreth was 3rd in the 1600M, Kristoffer Hamilton took 2nd in the 110 and the 200 Hurdles, the 800M Relay team of Jean Paul Soto, Jaymen Neff-Strickland, Cody Grim and Robert Daniels took 2nd and the 1600M realy team of Ethan Edwards, Nathan Mays, Chris Ethridge and Kristoffer Hamilton was also 2nd.

The UJHS girls also won the meet. Placing first were: Landre Neer in the discus(72' 2"), Destiny Andrews in the Shot Put(27' 4"), Brookelynn Russell in the Pole Vault(7), Payton Moore in the 100M Hurdles(18.3), the 400M Relay team of Payton Moore, Morgan Hamilton, Tori Quesenberry, Val Batova(59.1). Also placing were: Destiny Andrews, 2nd in the Discus, Teya Buckney was third in Discus and second in Shot Put, LandreNneer was third in Shot. Tori Quesenberry was second in Long Jump and 4th in 200M Hurdles, Morgan Hamilton took third in Long Jump, fourth in the 100M and third in the 200M Hurdles. In the Pole vault, Alyssa Beavers was second, MadyLlanning, third and Doree Schwarz was 5th. Val Batova was third in the 100M and second in the 200M. Payton Moore placed 5th in the 400M. Aubrey Norris took 5th in the 800M, the 1600M and the 100M Hurdles. Kathlein Lebo was 4th in the 1600M. The 800M Relay team of Alah Blevins, Alyssa Beavers, Mad yLanning and Katie Weinert placed 3rd.
