Tonight’s 8th grade baseball game has been cancelled.

Also, the high school’s baseball, softball games and tennis matches are all cancelled for today.

The Urbana Junior High School girls placed 4th in the 13-team Miami East Invitational. Becca Poppel placed first in the 100 meter Hurdles (17.10) and the 200 meter Hurdles (31.63). Also placing for Urbana were Tori Quesenberry, 3rd in the Long Jump, the 400 meter relay team of Latasha Hines, Kwyncie Purtee, Tessa McManamay, Sam Byers placed 7th, Payton Moore was 5th in the 100 Hurdles, the 800 Meter Relay team of Byers, Purtee, McManamay and Quesenberry was 4th, the 1600 Relay of Michelle Hendricks, Purtee, McManamay and Katelyn Grigg placed 5th, Becca Poppel took second in the High Jump, Landre Neer was 5th in the Discus. Erika Michael placed 7th in the Discus and 6th in the shot and Sara Trenor placed 4th in the Pole vault.

The Boys team placed 7th. Dillon Knueven won the high Jump (5' 4"). Also placing were Jaymen Neff-Strickland, 3rd in the 100 Hurdles and 4th in the 200 Hurdles, Jean Paul Soto, 7th in the 100 dash, Caleb Rogan was 8th in the 1600, the 400 Relay team of Drake Frost, Jaymen Neff-Strickland, Michael Laase and Jean Paul Soto took 2nd. Aaron Reeves took 6th in the 200 meter dash, Tanner Nichols placed 5th in the shot and Colin Riley took 8th in the Pole Vault.

Track practice will be INSIDE today.

Mr. Beard’s math students need to carry their math OAA review packets to ALL of their classes tomorrow, no exceptions!

Are You Interested in Soccer?

The Urbana University Men's Soccer team will be hosting a FREE YOUTH SOCCER CLINIC this Saturday at Urbana University Stadium.

9-10:30 will be for 7 and 8 year olds

11- 12:30 will be for 9 and 10 year olds

and 1-3:30 will be for 11,12, and 13 year olds.

Please wear soccer equipment(shorts, soccer cleats, and shin guards are required). Arrive 15 minutes prior to clinic.
Students are reminded that fall sports eligibility is based on the fourth quarter grades.
7th AND 8th grade students must pass 75% of their 4th quarter classes in order to be eligible for Junior High and High School fall athletic programs. Study tables will be required for any student athlete who is passing the 75% but has a GPA below 1.67.

Students are also reminded that end of year awards are based on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarter grades AND the 4th quarter interim grade. Please make sure you stay focused and maintain your grades throughout the 4th quarter.

There is a mandatory boys soccer meeting this Friday in the high school cafeteria for all students who are interested in playing high school soccer next year.  The meeting will be at 3:00 and will last around a half an hour.  It will be followed by an hour long lifting session and an hour long cross training session.  Students who can’t attend need to contact Coach Wells prior to Friday’s meeting.

The Urbana Junior High School girls track team won a home quad meet with 110 points. Winning for Urbana was latasha Hines in the 100 Meter dash(14.14, Sara Trenor in the 800(2:58) and the Pole Vault(6' 0"), Becca Poppel in the 100 meter hurdles(17.42) and the 200 Meter Hurdles(31.69), the 800 meter Relay(2:01.98) team of Hines, Kwyncie Purtee, Tori Quesenberry and Tessa Mcmanamay, the 400 meter Relay team(56.62) of Hines, Purtee, Mcmanamay, Payton Moore, the 1600 Meter Relay team(4:56.29) of Michelle Hendricks, Purtee, Mcmanamay, Katelynn Grigg, Tori Quesenberry in the Long Jump(13' 1"). Placing second was Tori Quesenberry in the 200, Braxton Rogan in the 400payton Moore in the 100 and 200 hurdles, Becca Poppel in the High Jump, Brookelynn Russell in the Pole Vault, Erika Michael in the shot and disc. In third place was Katelyn Grigg in the 400, Destiny Andrews in the shot and Landre Neer in the Discus. In Fourth was Sam Byers in the 200, Michelle Hendricks in the 400, Aubrey Norris in the 100 Hurdles, Katelyn Grigg in the High Jump, Dejah Andrews in the shot and disc.

The boys also won with 129.5 points. Latasha Hines in the 100 meter dash, the 400 meter relay team of Tessa Mcmanamay, Kwyncie Purtee, Payton Moore, Latasha H. in second were;payton Moore in the 100 hurdles, Erika michael in the shot, Tori Quesenberry in Long Jump, Sara Trenor in Pole vault, Third place finishes were Landre Neer in the shot, Sara Trenor in the 800 and the 1600 Meter Relay Team of Purtee, Mcmanamay, Michelle Hendricks, Katelyn Grigg. In fourth was Katelynn Grigg in the High Jump, Samantha Byers in the 200 and Payton Moore in the 200 Hurdles. Braxton Rogan took 5th in the Long Jump, as did Brookelyn Russell in the Pole vault and Tori Quesenberry in the 100.

The boys placed second to West Liberty Salem. Winning for the Climbers were Dillon Knueven in the High Jump, Drake Frost in the Pole vault, Austin Curtis in the 1600. Second place finishers were Aaron reeves in the Long Jump, The 400 relay team of Jean paul Soto, Jaymen Neff-Strickland, , Drake Frost, Michael Laase,the 800 relay Team of Soto, Reeves, nathan mays, Knueven, Aaron Reeves in the 200 and the 1600 Realy team of Curtis, Frost, Tanner Nichols, Caleb Rogan. In third place was Austin Curtis in the Long Jump, Caleb Rogan in the 1600 and 800. In fourth was Michael Laase in the Pole vault and 100 and Charles Sidders in the 800. fifth place wasTanner Nichols in the Shot and Disc, Nathan Mays in the High Jump, Dillon Knueven in the 200.

Good News 8th grade students

the revised goal for the Study Island questions has been changed due to 7th grade biography fair in the library and the internet being down temporiarly last week.
The new goal is 137,000 questions.

At last count the 8th graders had answered 98,000 questions.

7th graders you have a bit further to go, you currently have 5,800.

The Urbana Junior High School Girls Track Team won The 10 Team Harold Green Invitational at Milton Union with 101 points. Becca Poppel placed first in the 100 meter Hurdles(17.3), 200 Meter Hurdles(32.1), and the High Jump(4’ 6”)Sara Trenor  took first in the Pole Vault(6’ 6”) and Erika Michael won the Discus(66’ 10”). Other placers were: Payton Moore, 3rd in the 100 and 200 Meter Hurdles, The 1600 Meter relay team of Michele Hendricks, Katelyn Grigg, Tessa Mcmanamay and Kwyncie Purtee were 5th. The relay team of Sierra Corbin, Samantha Byers, Doree Schwarz and Brookelynn Russell 6th in the 400 Meter relay and 4th in the 800 Relay. Tessa Mcmanamay, Kwyncie Purtee, Payton Moore and Latasha Hines placed 5th in the 400 meter relay. The 800 meter Relay team of Tessa Mcmanamay, Latasha Hines, Abby Curnutte, and Kwyncie Purtee  placed 6th.   Sara Trenor took 8th in the 800 meter Run and Brookelynn Russell placed second in the Pole Vault.. The 1600 Meter Relay team of Sierra Corbin, Kathlein Lebo, Destiny VonDeylon and Doree Schwarz were 6th. Teya Buckney and Dejah Andrews finished 4th and 6th in the Shot Put.

The boys finished in third behind Northmont and Tippecanoe. Dillon Knueven won the High Jump(5’ 4”). Jaymen Neff-Strickland placed 6th in the 110  and 200 Meter Hurdles. Michael Laase took 8th in the 100 meter dash.  Caleb Rogan and Austin Curtis placed 4th and 6th in the 1600. The Relay Team of Blake Hildreth, Charles Sidders, Ethan Edwards and  Nathan Mays placed 4th. Placing 5th in the 400 meter relay was Jean Paul Soto, Dillon Knueven, Drake Frost and Jaymen Neff-Strickland.   The team of Blake Hildreth, Charles Sidders, Ethan Edwards and Bennie Stacy placed 7th.  Placing 4th in the 800 meter Relay was Jean Paul Soto, Dillon Knueven, Nathan Mays and Aaron Reeves.  Aaron reeves also placed 8th in the 200,  Fourth in the 1600 Relay was Drake Frost, Caleb Rogan, Austin Curtis ad Tanner Nichols. The Urbana girls finished in a close second in a 5 team meet at home. For Urbana, Becca Poppel placed first in the 100 Hurdles (17.1), High Jump (4' 8") and the 200 Meter hurdles (31.5 and new school record). Payton Moore placed third in the 100 and 200 Hurdles. Latasha Hines was second in the 100 meter dash and third in the 200. In the Long Jump, Tori Quesenberry placed first (13’ 1"), Braxton Rogan third and Abby Curnutte 5th. The 400 Relay team of Tessa Mcmanamay, Payton Moore, Tori Quesenberry and Kwyncie Purtee came in third.  The 800 Relay of Tessa Mcmanamay, Tori Quesenberry, Abby Curnutte and Kwyncie Purtee won with a time of 2:04. Erica Michael finished 5th in the Shot Put and second in the Discus. Landre Neer finished 3rd in Discus and Dejah Andrews took fourth.  The 1600 Relay team of Michelle Hendricks, Katelynn Grigg, Tessa Mcmanamay and Kwyncie Purtee took Fourth.  Sara Trenor and Brookelynn Russell took third and Fourth in the Pole Vault.

The Urbana boys remained undefeated. Kristoffer Hamilton placed 5th in the 110 Hurdles. Michael Laase was second in the 100 meter dash. Tanner Nichols was second in the Shot Put and fifth in the discus.  The 400 Meter relay team of Jean Paul Soto, Jaymen Neff-Strickland, Drake Frost and Michael Laase took second.  Austin Curtis and Caleb Rogan placed second and third place in the 1600. The 800 Meter Relay of Jean Paul Soto, Dylan Knueven, Aaron Reeves and Nathan Mays placed first in a time of 1:50. Jaymen Neff-Strickland placed third in the 200 Hurdles.  In the Long Jump, Austin Curtis placed first with a jump of 16' 8 1/4 .Also in the long jump, Aaron Reeves took second and Jaymen Neff-Strickland was fourth.  Caleb Rogan was third in the 800 meter run.   In the 200 meter dash, Aaron Reeves was first (26.57) and Dillon Knueven, third.  The 1600 meter relay team of Drake Frost, Caleb Rogan, Austin Curtis and Tanner Nichols placed second. In the high Jump, Dillon Knueven was first (5' 4") and Nathan Mays, fourth. Drake Frost won the Pole vault (7' 6") and Michael Laase took third.

The Urbana Junior High School Track Teams competed in the Bellefontaine Relays on Friday, April 9th .The boys team placed first. First place relay teams for Urbana were: Long Jump( Aaron Reeves, Austin Curtis) and the  Sprint Medley( Jean Paul Soto, Michael Laase, Jaymen Neff-Strickland, Austin Curtis). Second Place relays were: High Jump( Nathan Mays, Dillon Knueven), Distance Medley( Colin Riley, Ethan Edwards, Caleb Rogan, Austin Curtis). Pole Vault( Drake Frost, Michael Laase), 400 meter relay(Jean Paul Soto, Jaymen Neff-Strickland, Dillon Knueven, Michael Laase). The Mixed Medley(Dillon Knueven, Drake Frost, Aaron Reeves, Caleb Rogan) finished in third

Students are reminded that fall sports eligibility is based on the fourth quarter grades.

7th AND 8th grade students must pass 75% of their 4th quarter classes in order to be eligible for Junior High and High School fall athletic programs. Study tables will be required for any student athlete who is passing the 75% but has a GPA below 1.67.
Students are also reminded that end of year awards are based on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarter grades AND the 4th quarter interim grade. Please make sure you stay focused and maintain your grades throughout the 4th quarter.

UNIFORM FITTINGS FOR 2010-2011 HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADERS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED TODAY.  WE WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN THE NEW DATE IS SCHEDULED.

The Pennies for Patients totals are finally in. The 8th grade won by $86.59. Thanks to everyone who contributed. Our school raised $304.25 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help put an end to childhood cancer.

TRACK RESULTS
The Urbana Junior High School Track Team competed with Bethel and Milton Union Middle schools. The UJHS girls won with 73 points. Placing for Urbana were Dejah Andrews who took first in the Discus and second in the Shot Put,. Erica Michael, got second in Discus, and Teya Buckney , third. Becca Poppel placed first in 100 Meter Hurdles, 200 meter Hurdles and High Jump. Katelynn Grigg placed fourth in High Jump and second in the 400 Meter dash. Tori Quesenberry placed second in Long Jump. Sara Trenor won the 800 meter run and the Pole vault. Brookelynn Russell placed fourth in Pole vault.  Latosha Hines placed second in the 100 Meter dash.
Abby Curnutte got second in the 200 Meter dash. Braxton Rogan won the 400 Meter dash. Michelle Hendricks placed 3rd in the 400. Aubrey Norris placed fourth in the 100 Meter Hurdles. The team of Quesenberry, Payton Moore, Tessa Mcmanamay and Kwyncie Purtee got second in the 400 meter relay and first in the 800 meter Relay. The 1600 meter relay team of Grigg, Hendricks, Mcmanamay and Purtee placed first.

The boys also won with 72 points. Tanner Nichols placed second in the Shot Put. And Gunnar Lanning placed third. In the high jump, Dillon Knueven placed first and Nathan Mays took third. Austin Curtis won the Long Jump and the 1600 Meter run. Aaron Reeves got second in the Long Jump and third in the 110 meter Hurdles. Jaymen Neff Stickland placed third in the Long Jump.  Michael Laase took first in the Pole vault and second in the 100 meter dash.  Drake Frost took second in the Pole vault. Colin Riley took fourth in the Pole vault and second in the 800.  Dillon Knueven placed second in the 200 meter dash.  In the 400 meter run Ethan Edwards got third and Bennie Stacy fourth.  Caleb Rogan won the 800 and took second in the 1600.  Eli deNijs got third in the 800.  The 400 Meter relay team of Laase, Neff-Strickalnd, Frost and Jean Paul Soto took second. The 800 meter relay team of Knueven, Neff-Strickland, Mays and Reeves took first. The 1600 meter Realy team of Curtis, Frost, Nichols and Rogan also won.
