HIP trips will be on Thursday. Plan accordingly. 8th grade Y day is Wednesday and 7th grade Y day is Friday. Wear comfortable walking shoes. If you plan on swimming, bring an appropriate swim suit, no string bikinis.
There will be a meeting on Wed., May 23rd at 4:00 p.m. in HS Cafeteria for any girl interested in playing volleyball next fall. There will be a signup sheet in HS Athletic Office.
Urbana Athletic Department will be offering Sports Physicals for any athlete that will be in 7th through 12th grade for the 2012-13 school year. Physicals will be held in the High School Gym on Tuesday, May 22nd, 6 - 9pm. Cost of the Physicals are $10. A parent must be present or have completed the parent portion of the physical form. Physical forms can be picked up in the Athletic Office or on the Athletic Department Web site.
All library books, and books from your language art classes are due today. Please see Mrs. Warwick if you have any questions.
There will be a mandatory tennis meeting on Monday, May 21st in room C207 at 2:45 p.m. Important information will be given at this meeting, so it is imperative for you to attend. If you are absolutely not able to attend, you need to see Coach Eickhoff immediately.
Any boy interested in playing high school soccer next year, needs to stop by the office and sign up. The coach will contact you directly.
Track awards will be on Wednesday. May 23rd at 6:30. You must attend to receive your awards.
All 8th Grade Girls interested in playing soccer next year needs to attend a meeting in the cafeteria after school on Monday, May 21st. If you are unable to attend, you need to see Coach Smith in the High School (room E115) or pick up materials and sign up in Mrs. Jackson’s room on Monday.

INCLUDE THE
FOLLOWING
ELEMENTS:
- A STUDENT EARNING PASSING GRADES IN SOCIAL STUDIES, MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE AND LANGUAGE ARTS IS PROMOTED.
- A STUDENT IN 7TH OR 8TH GRADE HAVING FAILED 3 OF THE 5 CORE ACADEMIC AREAS: SOCIAL STUDIES, MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE, LANGUAGE ARTS (COUNTING AS 2 OUT OF THE 5) AT THE END OF THE YEAR MAY BE RETAINED. 8TH GRADERS WHO ARE RETAINED MAY TAKE HIGH SCHOOL COURSES IN THE SUBJECT AREAS THEY HAVE PASSED.
- A STUDENT HAVING FAILING GRADES MAY BE ASSIGNED TO THE HIGHER GRADE WITH DISCRETION AND THE APPROVAL OF THE PRINCIPAL.
- DOCUMENTARY AND ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE SHOULD BE AVAILABLE TO JUSTIFY RETENTION.
- A STUDENT WITH FAILING GRADES DURING ANY ACADEMIC TERM IS RECOMMENDED TO ENTER THE DISTRICT’S INTERVENTION PROGRAMS TO BE ASSISTED TOWARD ACADEMIC SUCCESS IN THOSE AREAS.

Transition Day for incoming 7th graders
Tomorrow(Tuesday) is the 6th grade transition day. The places they will be stopping and the students involved are on the attached sheet. They will be here at 9:00. Please excuse the 7th grade student helpers at 8:40.

Hillclimber Incentive Program Trips
May 24 is Hip trip day. Everyone will have their regular homeroom and first period. All students will come to the gym at 8:20. At 8:30 the busses will leave for Kings Island, Zoobezi Bay and Magic Mountain. Also at 8:30, the 7th grade maroon cards will leave to walk to southwest bowl.
Also, at 8:30 the 8th grade bowling chaperones(Green, Lavalley, Weinert, Woodruff) and 7th(Baum, Sasala, Stolly) and 8th(Lacy, Beard, Webb) grade teachers supervising the stay backs will pick up their kids from the gym. Each chaperone group is responsible for their group all day except for stay backs and bowlers during their regular lunch period. You may work together as a group to plan activiites, seperate the kids and keep them the whole day or work out a schedule among yourselves to rotate them. It is up to your teacher chaperone group to decide and plan. One of the 7th and one of the 8th grade stay back supervisors will need to supervise lunch and eat during the other lunch time. Mrs. Warwick will also help with lunch supervision. Please see Mr. Stickel if you have any questions.
