Summer PE will be from June 9 thru June 24, 8:00 am to 1:00 pm each day. Cost is $75.00. Applications may be picked up in the junior high office. The attached emergency medical authorization and full payment (checks payable to: Urbana City Schools) must be returned to the office between May 5 and May 19. Applications turned in after May 19th will only be accepted if space is available.

There will be activities going on the whole time, and you can help support our Urbana City Schools team. Wade Nichols and Natalie Hall will be dressed as King and Queen taking up donations from 7-8 PM on Friday. Wade will be dressed as the queen and Natalie as the king. There is a silent auction, cake decorating contest, and many more activities. Please come out and represent Urbana City Schools in this event. For your information – Graham always has a huge turnout of students walking the opening laps. I think we can be just as strong! Come and join the fun, but please remember that you represent Urbana City Schools. Make sure you wear something that says “Urbana” on it. Posted on the doors outside the office are walker times and a schedule of events. Hope to see you there!

Students are reminded that fall sports eligibility is based on the fourth quarter grades.
7th AND 8th grade students must pass 75% of their 4th quarter classes in order to be eligible for Junior High and High School fall athletic programs. Study tables will be required for any student athlete who is passing the 75% but has a GPA below 1.67. Students are also reminded that end of year awards are based on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarter grades AND the 4th quarter interim grade. Please make sure you stay focused and maintain your grades throughout the 4th quarter.

Any 8th grade girls interested in being a majorette next year for the UHS Marching Band needs to be in the high school gym at 6:30 tonight for practice.
Reminder to all 7th and 8th band students that the band subs need to be picked up today from 6 - 7:30 in the cafeteria.

DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR FRIDAY
Congratulations to the 2010-2011 8th grade football and basketball cheerleaders. For football, they are Alyssa Beavers, Morgan Moffitt, Brookelynn Russell and Chelsea Jones. For basketball, they are: Alyssa Beavers, Morgan Moffitt, Brookelynn Russell, Meredith Hiltibran, Aubrey Norris, Doree Schwarz and Annie Tullis. Whoo – hoo!

The urbana girls Track team took fourth at the 12 team Graham invitational. Becca Poppel placed first in the 100 meter Hurdles(17.41) and the 200 meter Hurdles(31.95) and second in the High Jump. Also placing were the 400 meter relay team of Tessa Mcmanamay, Payton Moore, Kwyncie Purtee, and Tori Quesenberry placed 5th, the 800 meter Relay team of Mcmanamay, Purtee, quesenberry and sam Byers placed 4th, the 1600 meter Relay team of Michelle Hendricks, Mcmanmay, Katelynn Grigg, Purtee took 7th, Katelynn Grigg placed 8th in the High Jump as did Tori Quesenberry in the Long Jump, Erika Michael placed 4th in the discus and 7th in the shot. Dejah Andrews placed 8th in the shot, and Sara Trenor took 3rd in Pole vault.
The boys placed third. The 800 Meter Relay team of Michael Lasse, Dillon Knueven, Aaron Reeves, Jean Paul Soto won in a time of 1:47.75. Knueven placed second in the High Jump, Austin Curtis placed second in the Long Jump and Tanner Nichols took second in the Shot Put. The 400 meter relay team of Soto, Lasse, Jaymen Neff-Strickland and Drake Frost also placed second. Also placing were Jean Paul Soto took 6th in the 100 meter dash, Austin Curtis placed 7th in the 1600, Neff-Strickland was 8th in the 200 Hurdles, Reeves was 6th in the 200 and the Long Jump, The 1600 meter relay team of Frost, Curtis, Nichols, and caleb Rogan took 6th. in the Pole vault, Drake Frost placed 3rd and Colin Riley finished in 7th.
