Summer Phys Ed
Summer PE will be from June 9 thru June 24, 8:00 am to 1:00 pm each day. Cost is $75.00. Applications may be picked up in the junior high office. The attached emergency medical authorization and full payment (checks payable to: Urbana City Schools) must be returned to the office between May 5 and May 19. Applications turned in after May 19th will only be accepted if space is available.

PROMOTION POLICY
GUIDELINES INCLUDE THE
FOLLOWING ELEMENTS:
1. A STUDENT EARNING PASSING GRADES IN SOCIAL STUDIES, MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE AND LANGUAGE ARTS IS PROMOTED.
2. A STUDENT IN 7TH OR 8TH GRADE HAVING FAILED 3 OF THE 5 CORE ACADEMIC AREAS: SOCIAL STUDIES, MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE, LANGUAGE ARTS (COUNTING AS 2 OUT OF THE 5) AT THE END OF THE YEAR MAY BE RETAINED. 8TH GRADERS WHO ARE RETAINED MAY TAKE HIGH SCHOOL COURSES IN THE SUBJECT AREAS THEY HAVE PASSED.
3. A STUDENT HAVING FAILING GRADES MAY BE ASSIGNED TO THE HIGHER GRADE WITH DISCRETION AND THE APPROVAL OF THE PRINCIPAL.
4. DOCUMENTARY AND ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE SHOULD BE AVAILABLE TO JUSTIFY RETENTION.
5. A STUDENT WITH FAILING GRADES DURING ANY ACADEMIC TERM IS RECOMMENDED TO ENTER THE DISTRICT’S INTERVENTION PROGRAMS TO BE ASSISTED TOWARD ACADEMIC SUCCESS IN THOSE AREAS.

Congratulations to Tony Kitchen and Beau Bassell for placing in the 3rd Annual Wrestle Against Autism Tournament. Their participation helped raised almost $40,000 to use in the fight against Autism!

Winning for Urbana were Jaymen Neff-Strickland in the 110 Hurdles(19.07) and 200 Hurdles(31.12), Austin Curtis in the 1600(5:23.89), the 400 Relay team(52.15) of Jean Paul Soto, Jaymen Neff-Strickland, Drake Frost, Michael Laase, Caleb Rogan in the 800(2:35.50), Tanner Nichols in the Shot(35' 10"), Aaron Reeves in the 200(26.99), Dillon Knueven in the High Jump(5' 8"), 1600 Relay(4:20.61) of Drake Frost, Aaron Reeves, Tanner Nichols, Austin Curtis, Drake Frost in the Pole vault(9' 0"). also placing were Kristoffer Hamilton and Nathan Mays took 2nd and third in the 110 Hurdles, Jean paul Soto and Montae Bass were 2nd and fourth in the 100, caleb Rogan was 2nd in the 1600, kristoffer hamilton and Eli deNijs were 2nd and 3rd in the 400, Tanner Nichols and Gunnar lanning took 2nd and 3rd in Discus, nathan Mays was 2nd in 200 Hurdles, Cahrles sidder took 2nd in the 800, MIcahel laase and Gunnar lanning were 2nd and 3rd in the shot Put, bennie Stacy was fourth in the 200, Caleb Rogan and nathan mays took 2nd and 3rd in the high Jump, Colin Riley was third in the Pole vault.

Runners up for Urbana was Dillon Knueven in the Long Jump, the 800 meter Relay team of Michael Laase, Aaron Reeves, Knueven and Jean Paul Soto. Also scoring were Caleb Rogan, 6th in the 1600, the 400 Meter Relay team of Drake Frost, Jaymen Neff-Strickland, Michael Laase, Jean Paul Soto, Aaron reeves, 7th in the 200, Jaymen Neff-Strickland, 8th in the 110 meter Hurdles, and 5th in the 200 Hurdles Austin Curtis, 3rd in the Long Jump, the 1600 Relay team of Drake Frost, Austin Curtis, Tanner Nichols, Aaron Reeves, 6th and Drake Frost, 3rd in the Pole Vault.

Students are reminded that fall sports eligibility is based on the fourth quarter grades.
7th AND 8th grade students must pass 75% of their 4th quarter classes in order to be eligible for Junior High and High School fall athletic programs. Study tables will be required for any student athlete who is passing the 75% but has a GPA below 1.67. Students are also reminded that end of year awards are based on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarter grades AND the 4th quarter interim grade. Please make sure you stay focused and maintain your grades throughout the 4th quarter.
Summer Phys Ed
Summer PE will be from June 9 thru June 24, 8:00 am to 1:00 pm each day. Cost is $75.00. Applications may be picked up in the junior high office. The attached emergency medical authorization and full payment (checks payable to: Urbana City Schools) must be returned to the office between May 5 and May 19. Applications turned in after May 19th will only be accepted if space is available.

The urbana girls Track team took fourth at the 12 team Graham invitational. Becca Poppel placed first in the 100 meter Hurdles(17.41) and the 200 meter Hurdles(31.95) and second in the High Jump. Also placing were the 400 meter relay team of Tessa Mcmanamay, Payton Moore, Kwyncie Purtee, and Tori Quesenberry placed 5th, the 800 meter Relay team of Mcmanamay, Purtee, quesenberry and sam Byers placed 4th, the 1600 meter Relay team of Michelle Hendricks, Mcmanmay, Katelynn Grigg, Purtee took 7th, Katelynn Grigg placed 8th in the High Jump as did Tori Quesenberry in the Long Jump, Erika Michael placed 4th in the discus and 7th in the shot. Dejah Andrews placed 8th in the shot, and Sara Trenor took 3rd in Pole vault.

The boys placed third. The 800 Meter Relay team of Michael Lasse, Dillon Knueven, Aaron Reeves, Jean Paul Soto won in a time of 1:47.75. Knueven placed second in the High Jump, Austin Curtis placed second in the Long Jump and Tanner Nichols took second in the Shot Put. The 400 meter relay team of Soto, Lasse, Jaymen Neff-Strickland and Drake Frost also placed second. Also placing were Jean Paul Soto took 6th in the 100 meter dash, Austin Curtis placed 7th in the 1600, Neff-Strickland was 8th in the 200 Hurdles, Reeves was 6th in the 200 and the Long Jump, The 1600 meter relay team of Frost, Curtis, Nichols, and caleb Rogan took 6th. in the Pole vault, Drake Frost placed 3rd and Colin Riley finished in 7th.

Today’s HIP winners are: Nathan Mays, Colin Thompson, Annie Tullis and Jenna Rittenhouse. Please come to the office for your prize.
