Daily Announcements for Sept 28th, 2010

There are still a just a few spots available for the Washington trip. These spots wil be filled on a first come, first served basis. Also, please remember the second payment is due Friday, October 22. If you do not meet the payment schedule, you do risk being placed on the waiting list!


The Urbana Junior High School 8th grade volleyball team defeated Graham Middle School 25-12, 25-15. Payton Moore and Annie Tullis each served 10 points. The Urbana 7th graders won by forfeit.

Junior High Boys Basketball open gym will be tonight from 5:30-7:00 in the Junior High Gym.


There will be a student council meeting on Weds. September 29th at 7:10 am in Mr McAndrews room.

On October 2nd, the volleyball teams are playing in a game to fight breast cancer. They are raising money by selling t-shirts. They are 10 each. If you would like one, please see Mrs. Poppel.

The 8th grade continued their winning streak winning in 3 games 25-12, 26-28, 25-23. Abby Curnutte had 8 kills and Braxton Rogan added 7. The 7 th grade football team lost to Indian Lake Tuesday night 14-8. The seventh graders record is now 3-1. Jack Harris scored the lone touchdown for the climbers. Zach Vernon, had 2 sacks, Jacob Angles and Skyler Reisinger each had one. The seventh graders play next Wednesday at home versus Northridge Middle School.

The Urbana Junior High School 7th grade volleyball team beat Bellefontaine with scores of 25-19, 25-23. Katy Curnutte served 7 points and Allison fain added 6. The 8th grade was also victorious 25-21, 22-25, 25-17. Annie Tullis played an outstanding defensive game. Payton Moore had 4 kills and 4 assists. Meerdith Hiltibran had 3 kills and 5 assists.

The following students made student council – 7th grade: Javonna Weaver, Emma Burnside, Sara Lingrell, Morgan Hamilton, Alexis Shambaugh, Olivia Bixler, Shane Souders, Sam Niswonger and Greg Coffey. 8th grade: Barbara Ofori, Michelle Boysel, Morgan Moffitt, Josh Wingfield, Kathlein Lebo, Nathan Mays, Samantha Kenney, Doree Schwarz, Burr Simpson, Rachel Ebert, Alyssa Beavers, Joe Habodasz, Ethan Edwards, Michael Morgan and Destiny VonDeylen. Congratulations. 8th grade student council members will have a meeting Wednesday, September 22 at 7:10 in Mr. McAndrews room to discuss running for officers.

Only 100 8th graders will be going to Washington. The first payment of $115.00 is due today! Spots on this trip will be filled first come, first served! All School fees must be paid in order to be eligible for the Washington DC trip.

There are Kings Island coupons in the office if any students are interested.

The Urbana 8th grade team won 25-7, 18-25, 25-15. Abby Curnutte served 19 points and had 3 kills. Payton Moore had 4 kills and Meredith Hiltibran and Tori Quesenberry each added 3.

8th. grade football: UJHS beat Tecumseh 22-0. Corey Fenton had 2 TDs, Jesse Sparks added 2 point conversion, Jaymen Neff-Strrickland added touchdown, Ethan Edwards pass for 2 TDs, Joe Habodasz had safety and Ben Heaverlin had a fumble recovery.

In football news the 7th grade team played Tecumseh Middle School's 7th grade team at Boyce Street field on Wednesday, Sept. 15th. Scoring for the Climbers

Zack Michael also played a key role with strong offensive line play and tackles for losses on defense. The 7th graders won 40-36 and are now 3-0. They play Indian Lake Middle School next week.

It’s not too late to order a t-shirt from the high shool cheerleaders. They are taking orders until Monday, Sept 13th. Pick up a form from Mrs. Forson or in the office.

If you are interested in becoming a student council member please pick up a form in the office and return it by Friday, September 10th to the office. Elections will be held Tuesday September 13th.

On wed September 1st the 7th grade Climbers opened the football season by traveling to Tippecanoe Middle School. Urbana won 26-0 for their first game and play Mad River Middle School on Wednesday Sept 8th. Scoring for Urbana:

Ethan Edwards had a TD pass & a 2 point conversion pass. Corey Fenton had a 2 point conversion & fumble recovery. Andy Burkhart & Joe Habodasz both had two fumble recoveries.

The Urbana Junior High School 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams each started their season with a win against Indian Valley. The 7th grade won 25-6, 25-14. Macy Pierce served 9 points and Jennifer Tracy added 8. The 8th grade score was 25-9, 25-20. Payton Moore served 7 points and had 3 kills. Meredith Hiltibran served 6 points and had 3 assists.

Also, please have your money ready when you approach the cashier. You cannot take food or drink out of the cafeteria. The cafeteria would also like you to know that once you put food on your tray YOU CANNOT PUT IT BACK!
