STUDENT FEES
Students may pay school fees in the office during lunch or after school. Grade cards will be held and course credit cannot be certified until fees have been paid. Students will also not be allowed to attend school dances or receive a work permit until fees are paid or a payment plan is arranged. A fee waiver application is available in the main office.
Parent Survey Fall 2012
As part of our improvement initiatives, we are asking parents to respond to a school climate survey. Please go to the survey link http://goo.gl/OPqBz on the district web site at www.urbana.k12.oh.us. All survey responses are anonymous. Although we invite any and all comments, both positive and negative, please understand that published results of this survey will not include negative comments that directly name an individual. Thank you for your valuable input as we continue to move forward with our improvement efforts.
VOICE MAIL
ALL URBANA CITY SCHOOLS’ OFFICES HAVE VOICE MAIL FOR YOUR CONVIENCE. YOU CAN LEAVE A MESSAGE AT ANY TIME, DAY OR NIGHT. VOICE MAIL IS DIFFERENT FROM AN ANSWERING MACHINE. IF THE OFFICE PHONE IS IN USE, THE SYSTEM
AUTOMATICALLY SWITCHES TO THE RECORDING SO THAT YOU DO NOT GET A BUSY SIGNAL. THE ONLY TIME YOU SHOULD GET A BUSY SIGNAL IS WHEN THE OFFICE PHONE IS IN USE AND A MESSAGE IS ALSO GOING TO THE VOICE MAIL AT THE SAME TIME.
FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH APPLICATIONS AND INSTRUCTIONAL FEES
Please make sure you have completed and returned the Free and Reduced Price School Meals Application for your student. During the 2012-2013 school year, Ohio Revised Code 3313.642 prohibits districts from charging instructional fees for those eligible for free lunch through this program. This fee wavier applies to those receiving free (not reduced) lunch prices. To receive the instructional fee wavier, the Sharing Information with Other Programs Form must be completed and returned.

JH Tutoring
We are going to be starting after school tutoring the week after Thanksgiving break. The sessions will be Tuesdays and Thursdays until 4:15PM. Tutoring is a committment for students- not just for if they have fallen behind temporarily, but for consistent help through the year. In addition to assistance with homework, there will be opportunities to reassess, study for tests, and learn good study skills. Please send me names of students whom you believe would benefit from tutoring, and I will be making contact with parents.
Thanks a bunch!
Katie

a note from our junior high counselor, Katie Miller
Good Morning,
Our food services are once again doing the Backpack Program this year starting this Friday, October 5th. Most of you already are familiar with the program but it gives students who might not otherwise have much to eat over the weekend a backpack of kid friendly food to get them through until school on Monday. Some students might have a temporary need, while othes might need the backpack on a regular basis. Students do not have to be recieving free/reduced lunches to be eligible. I have a list of students to start for this week but if you suspect any students who may benefit from this program, PLEASE let me know!
Every Wednesday I give food services a number of backpacks needed for the students in our building. On Friday, I will send a reminder to the students to stop in my office at the end of the day. On Monday morning, those students return their backpacks to me to be used again. Please let me know if you have any questions!! Thanks for all your help!!
Thank you,
