ATTENDANCE

Please call the school by 9:00 am if your child will not be attending.  We have voice mail, so you may leave a message 24 hours a day. If you do leave a message, PLEASE STATE THE REASON for the absence.  A call with no reason given does not necessarily make the absence excused.  If you do not have a phone, be sure to send a note with the student the next day explaining the reason for the absence.  If there is not a call or the student does not bring a note, he/she will be assigned ALC for 2 days as if they were truant from school.  If a note is brought in the following morning, the ALC will be rescinded.

SPARKY PAINTINGS
The Urbana Junior High Student Council is selling SPARKY paintings for your sidewalk and/or driveway. Using a "Sparky" template, student council members and an advisor will spray paint Sparky on either of the above mentioned areas for $15 each painting. Colors to choose from are maroon, silver or white. Design can be seen on Washington Avenue and Wood Street. Please call Krista Lingrell at 937-215-4442 or 937-652-1529 to get your SPARKY today!

Detention
After-school detention is served Monday, and Wednesday from 2:40-3:30.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL AUTHORIZATION FORMS (EMA)
This form is required by law and provides us with instructions on how to care for your child in the event of an emergency.  Students will not be allowed to participate in field trips and other activities until this form is returned.  Please return this form as soon as possible.  Extra forms are available in the office.

RULES OF THE ROAD AT UJHS

WHEN YOU COME TO SCHOOL TO DROP OFF OR PICK UP YOUR CHILD, THERE ARE A FEW RULES OF THE ROAD ON THE CAMPUS.
·       Enter the campus by way of Carson St.  It is
      one way “south” or “up the hill” during school
      hours.
·       Always bear right along the outside lane of
       the parking lot as it goes around to the
       front of the school…
·       Drive on through in front of the UJHS/UHS building.  There is no turn-around in the traffic
       pattern here.
·       Exit on Washington Ave, right turn only during school hours.
·       The section of the parking lot in front of the north doors is not part of the drive path for pick-up and drop-off of students.
To help with traffic flow Students will enter the building through the main entrance at the office.


Attention senior citizens
If you are 62 years of age or older and live within the Urbana city school district, then you qualify for gold key membership.  With your gold key membership, you will have free entry into all Urbana city schools home sporting events.  All you have to do to qualify is to bring two proofs of residency to our board office at 711 wood st.

STUDENT FEES
Students may pay school fees in the office.  Grade cards will be held and course credit cannot be certified until fees have been paid.  Students will also not be allowed to attend school dances or receive a work permit until fees are paid or a payment plan is arranged.  A fee waiver application is available in the main office.

Football
Urbana 8th. Grade Football team fell to Tecumseh 30-28, For UJHS (2-1), Sam Nisownger had three touchdowns and two-point Conversions and Jack Harris added a TD.

The 8th grade Football team lost to Indian Lake 22-6. Jack Harris scored the lone touchdown for UJHS.

FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH APPLICATIONS AND INSTRUCTIONAL FEES
Please make sure you have completed and returned the Free and Reduced Price School Meals Application for your student.  During the 2011-2012 school year, Ohio Revised Code 3313.642 prohibits districts from charging instructional fees for those eligible for free lunch through this program.  This fee wavier applies to those receiving free (not reduced) lunch prices.  To receive the instructional fee waiver, the Sharing Information with Other Programs Form must be completed and returned.

FOOTBALL TICKETS
Student presale tickets will be on sale Friday in the athletic office every week.  Tickets are $4.00
